Papercut Magazine drives photographers to extreme heights. This collaboration between illustrator Michael Ezzell and photographer Christopher Hench came out pretty good. The unusual accessories like the blue fluffy boa and hardware with a capital 'H' give the model some toughness. I love the illustrated geometrical forms. They blend in the photographs like they were there first and the photographs were inspired by them. One of the best creative collaborations that fit fantastically in art world. Zondag lichtte ik al een tipje van de sluiter op. Foto's waarin iets met handwerk is gedaan trekken altijd mijn aandacht. Borduursels door een foto, illustraties die perfect in het shot passen, effecten die handmatig en anoloog zijn toegepast. Deze fotoserie van de hand van Christopher Hench is in die categorie perfect gelukt. Het wordt bijna een kip-ei verhaal: waren de foto's of de illustraties er eerst? Ze passen zo perfect bij elkaar dat de illustratie haast in de foto lijkt te blenden. Michael Ezzell heeft het simpel gehouden en tekent vooral geometrische vormen in zwart en wit. Een knap staaltje potloodkunst, en een prachtige samenwerking.
